The Librarian is responsible for managing and maintaining the institution’s library resources, supporting academic and research activities of students and faculty, and ensuring efficient access to physical and digital learning materials in line with AICTE/JNTU/UGC norms.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of the college library
- Organize, classify, and catalog books, journals, periodicals, and digital resources
- Maintain library records, accession registers, and inventory
- Ensure availability of academic, reference, and research materials for engineering disciplines
- Manage digital library resources, e-journals, and online databases
- Support students and faculty with reference services and research assistance
- Implement and manage Library Management System (LMS)
- Prepare library reports for audits, inspections, and accreditation (NBA/NAAC)
- Maintain discipline and library rules
- Coordinate with vendors for procurement of books and journals
- Conduct orientation programs for students on library usage
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of library science and information management
- Familiarity with LMS software and digital library platforms
- Knowledge of academic accreditation requirements (NAAC/NBA preferred)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Organizational and record-keeping abilities
- Basic computer proficiency (MS Office, internet resources)
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Library & Information Science (M.Lib / M.L.I.Sc) – Mandatory
- Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline
- NET/SET qualification – Preferred (as per regulatory norms)
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience as a Librarian in an academic institution (Engineering college experience preferred)
